Softball team falls to No. 1 Florida Southwestern
The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a high-scoring affair with the No. 1 ranked Florida Southwestern Friday in a non-conference game at the State College of Florida-Manatee in Bradenton.
Down 7-0 in the fourth inning, the Titans would begin to rally back as Makenzie Fore doubled scoring Sam Clark and then Fore would score on Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor's single.
Down 10-2 in the fifth, Makenzie Fore came to the plate with Clark and Rachel Lamoureaux on base. The first baseman hit a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall to make it 10-5. Marisa Shoudt and Ava Bassani would both single and once again Hedetniemi-Taylor would come through, this time a single to right field scored both Shoudt and Bassani.
Florida Southwestern would hang on and add a run in the seventh inning for the 11-7 win.
The Titans finished with 13 hits as Lamoureaux, Clark, Fore and Hedetniemi-Taylor each had two hits in the game.
Eastern Florida State College will host Indian River State College in a conference doubleheader on Wednesday. The final home series of the season will begin at 4 p.m. and the sophomores will be honored.
