Softball team earns split with No. 7 Indian River State College

The Eastern Florida State College softball team split with No. 7 Indian River State College in a Southern Conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
Tied 1-1 after one inning in the first game, the Titans scored four times in the second as Kayla Domon and Madison Neuhaus have RBI singles and then both score on error to make it 5-1.
But the Titans were not finished as they came up in the third inning and Alyssa Agrippa added to the lead with a two-run double.
Neuhaus finished 3-for-3 while Molly Reid and Lauren Lightbody each had two hits and scored twice. Trinity Howard allowed one run on two hits over five innings, striking out six for the win.
It was the first win of the conference season for the Titans.
Game 2 saw the Titans once again take the early lead as Olivia Rivera had an RBI double and then Lauren Lightbody had an RBI single to give Eastern Florida State College a 2-0 lead in the second inning. They would add a run in the third to take a 3-0 lead, but Indian River State College got to Howard in the fourth inning, scoring five times to take the lead.
Indian River would take a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Titans would battle back as Lauren Lightbody drove in a run and then scored to tie the game 7-7.
But Indian River State College scored four times in the top of the eighth to take an 11-7 win.
Lightbody went 4-for-5 with three RBI while Meritxell Blesa and Kaitlyn Wilson each had two hits.
The Titans will travel to Miami Dade on Friday for a conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. They will face Miami Dade again on Wednesday at Titan Softball Complex.
