Softball team sweeps Daytona State College
The Eastern Florida State College softball team swept Daytona State College on Monday afternoon on the road.
The Titans won the first game 13-3 and then the second game 8-2 to improve to 11-7 overall.
The Titans fell behind 3-0 after the first inning but came out swinging in the second inning, right fielder Roneice Pharoah crushed her first home run of the season, a three-run shot to left-center field to tie the game and would score five times in the second inning.
The Titans would keep the pressure on, scoring eight more times to post the victory.
In Game 2 the game was tied 1-1 through the first four innings but Gabriela Garcia hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Titans a 5-1 lead. It was Garcia's first home run of the season.
Meritxell Blesa would hit a two-run triple in the seventh inning. Pitcher Trinity Howard picked up the win in both games.
Eastern Florida State College, who has won five of the past seven games, will host the No. 1 team in the country Wednesday when the College of Central Florida comes to Titan Softball Complex for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
