Men's soccer team will play Southern Union in Southeast District semifinal Friday
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team is the No. 1 seed at the Southeast District Championship which begins Friday at Orlando Health Stadium.
The Titans, who are 12-2-2 and ranked seventh in the NJCAA Division I poll, will play Southern Union State Community College in the first semifinal at 1:30 p.m.
Southern Union is 10-4-4 on the season and has a six-game unbeaten streak. Nine different players have scored at least three goals for the Bison as Joshua Guerra leads with seven goals.
Eastern Florida State College defeated Miami Dade College, who is the No. 3 seed and play at 7:30 p.m., in the Region 8 Championship as four different players scored in the win. Mukisa Emmanuel leads the team with nine goals. Teammate Luc Achermann-Stanfield has 17 assists this season which is second in the nation and was named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week this week. Achermann-Stanfield and Joao Loureiro each have six goals.
Miami Dade College comes into the tournament 12-2-2 and ranked eighth in the national poll. They will play USC-Sumter in the final game of the day on Friday. The Sharks have lost the past two games but are looking to get back on track this weekend. They are led by the duo of Eduardo Duchini who has 13 goals while teammate Facundo Ochoa has scored 10 times.
USC-Sumter has won three in a row and shut out USC Lancaster in the regional final to improve to 13-1-2. Luis Peralta leads the Fire Ants with 11 goals while Yunus Can has scored eight times.
