Six men's soccer players named to All-Region 8 Team
Six members of the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team were named to the All-Region 8 Team on Tuesday.
Eastern Florida State College, who is the No. 1 seed in the Southeast District Championships this weekend, had three players named to the first team and three others were named to the second team.
Mukisa Emmanuel, Luc Achermann-Stanfield and Zak Ford were all named to the first team while Marcellus McCoy, Joao Loureiro and Rhys Shirley made the second team.
Emmanuel leads the team with nine goals this season for the Titans and has also recorded four assists. The 22 points is tied for second-best on the team. The Uganda native plays forward for the Titans and has scored a goal in six games this season.
Achermann-Stanfield leads the country in assists this season with 17 and has also scored six goals this season. The London, England native was named the Region 8 Player of the Week for his performance in the Region 8 Tournament, helping the Titans win the title.
Ford has helped solidify the defense this season and has the ability to move forward and become an offensive player. The Bristol, England native has a goal and five assists this season as a sophomore defender.
On the second team, McCoy plays on the other side of the defense and has helped the group post five shutouts this season. The Lakeland native has scored three times and assisted on three others. Two of the three goals have been game winners.
Shirley has scored five goals and assisted on five others this season as the forward and Plymouth, England native has a game-winning goal this year.
Loureiro has a hat trick and has scored six goals and assisted on 10 others from the forward position. The Rio de Janeiro native has had assists in two of the past three games.
The Titans will be home this weekend, competing in the Southeast District Championship beginning on Friday. Eastern Florida State College will open against Southern Union at 1:30 p.m.
