
Men's soccer team travels to Daytona State for top 15 battle
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will head to Daytona State College for a key Region 8 Conference game Saturday night.
The 14th-ranked Titans can win the conference title with a victory over the No. 5 Falcons at 7 p.m.
Eastern Florida State College defeated Daytona State College in the first matchup of the season on Sept. 14 as the Titans won 3-1. Junior Smith scored twice and had an assist on the third goal in that meeting.
Jack Nelson had the third goal in the meeting and leads the Titans with 10 goals this season. Smith has seven goals while Jaidon Seldon and Thomas Duggan each have six goals. Goalkeeper Jorge Ortega is fourth in the nation in goals against average, averaging 0.62.
Daytona State College is led by Christian Cordeiro who has nine goals this season while Kevin Kelly has six goals and nine assists. Goalkeeper William Diaz has six shutouts this season and has a 0.66 goals against average.
If the Falcons win on Saturday, the tiebreaker will be played next Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
