Corey Caulker named to All-FCSAA Team
Corey Caulker came onto campus over the summer and quickly became one of the leaders of the team and on Tuesday he was named to the All-FCSAA Team.
The point guard from Sterling, Virginia finished the regular season averaging 13.2 points, 4.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 27 games for Eastern Florida State College this season.
"Corey is the ultimate point guard in my opinion, I have said multiple times that there is a point guard that is better in the country in junior college I want to see him," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Thomas Gray said. "Just what he brings to the table both offensively, defensively, the way he sees the ball, the way he protects the basketball, the way he runs the team and can also create his own shot. It has been an absolute blessing and a pleasure for me to coach him."
Caulker came to Eastern Florida State College after his NJCAA Division II school dropped the men's basketball program after the season, forcing Caulker to begin searching for a new opportunity.
"I told his dad when he first got on campus that I am going to enjoy the few months I get to be around him because he is that type of guy. He is a special basketball player and a special leader," Gray said.
Caulker averaged more than a point more during the conference season and has scored at least 12 points in each of the past seven games. In his one season at Eastern Florida State College, the sophomore started all 27 games and has hit at least one 3-pointer in 20 games.
The All-FCSAA Team is made up of the 12 best players in the state and Caulker and teammate Emondrek Erkins-Ford both earned their spots. It is the first time since 2016 that two Titans have been named to the all-state team.
Eastern Florida State College will open the FCSAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament Thursday against Pensacola State College at 2 p.m. EDT at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.
