Men's basketball player Brody Boyer named Region 8 Player of Week
Eastern Florida State College men's basketball player Brody Boyer was named the FCSAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
It is the second time in his career that Boyer has been named the state player of the week, also winning the award in 2020.
The sophomore from Palm Bay had one of the most memorable weekends in Titans history, hitting the game winner on both Friday and Saturday night.
On Friday night with the Titans trailing No. 4 Chipola College by one point, Boyer took an inbound pass, slipped but kept his dribble, making it to just past the volleyball line before taking the shot just as the buzzer sounded and the celebration began. Boyer finished the game with 23 points and seven rebounds in the 73-71 win.
Then on Saturday the Titans were tied with the State College of Florida-Manatee in the final seconds. And once again, Boyer got the ball and drove to the basket, hitting a short jump shot to give the Titans a lead with 0.6 seconds. The Titans won that game 71-69 and Boyer finished with 16 points and seven assists to help the Titans improve to 4-0 on the season.
Boyer and the Titans will play in the FSW Turkey Day Classic on Friday and Saturday.
