Sophomore class all moving on to four-year colleges

Sophomore class all moving on to four-year colleges

All 16 sophomores on the Eastern Florida State College baseball team have signed to move on to a four-year college on baseball scholarships.

Shortstop Dilan Espinal will be attending NCAA Division I Alabama State University in the fall after playing in 86 games over two seasons with the Titans, hitting .310 with 71 runs scored and 41 stolen bases.

Pitcher Michael Entenza will be heading south as he decided to attend Florida Atlantic University in the Fall. Entenza will play in Conference USA after going 2-1 with two saves in 21 appearances last season with the Titans.

Alvaro Valdez will be attending Tusculum University which is a Division II school in Tennessee playing in the South Atlantic Conference. Valdez played in 69 games over two seasons with the Titans, finishing with a career batting average of .316.

Three players will be staying in Brevard County after signing to play at Florida Tech next season. All three are pitchers as Alex Carpenter, Borris Villa and Andres Rodriguez will all be Panthers next season. Rodriguez had a 1.84 ERA with five saves. Villa made 15 appearances with the Titans over two seasons and Alex Carpenter went 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in 18 appearances last season.

Pitcher Raynieri De Los Santos Disla is heading to Division II school Erskine College in South Carolina after two seasons with the Titans.

Bailey Wendel is heading to Francis Marion University after going 3-0 in 15 appearances last season with a 3.34 ERA. Francis Marion is a Division II team that plays in the Peach Belt Conference.

Kevin Silva will attend Webber International in the Fall. Webber is an NAIA school that finished the season No. 16 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 Poll. In two seasons with the Titans, the centerfielder hit .290 with 66 runs scored and drove in 52 in 99 games.

Rutledge will attend Faulkner University, which is an NAIA school in Montgomery, Alabama that finished with 49 wins last season and made it to the NAIA World Series. Rutledge hit .255 last season in 47 games.

Clayton Stanley is heading across the state to Ave Maria, which is an NAIA school in Fort Myers. Stanley hit .289 with five home runs in his second season with the Titans. Teammate Daniel Acosta is also going to an NAIA school, choosing to attend Edward Waters in the Fall.

Four players have decided to go to Georgia Gwinnett College, an NAIA school in Lawrenceville that is coming off a second straight run in the NAIA World Series. Southern Conference Player of the Year Austin Bates who finished his Titans career with a 31-game hitting streak as well as starting pitcher Pablo Barquero Jackson who went 7-4 last season with a 2.64 ERA. Also heading to Gwinnett is JD Stubbs who hit .232 in 48 games last season and Steven Lugo who hit .312 this season with 48 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.

The Titans finished the season runner-up in the Southern Conference with 31 wins, falling in the conference tournament final.
