Men's cross country team places 17th at NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships

The Eastern Florida State College men's cross country team placed 17th at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Huntsville, Alabama Saturday.

Six of the runners posted their season best times at John Hunt Park. The Titans were led by sophomore Dayton Law who finished 47th overall with a time of 25 minutes, 52.2 seconds. It was the first time this season that Law has finished under 26 minutes.

Teammate Simon Devoss finished 89th overall with a season best time of 26:56.3 while Gabriel Garcia (27:14.9), Trevor Cross (27:20), Anthony Bergnes (27:49.4) all posted season-best runs.

Freshman Matt Weiler had the run of the day, finishing almost two seconds faster than his personal best to finish in 27:49.6.

"We ran great today, Matt had a huge day today, Dayton ran back in the 25s so we are pretty happy with how we ran," Eastern Florida State College men's cross country coach Doug Butler said. "Anytime you run your best in the final race, that is really all you can ask for."

The team will run in a half marathon at John Hunt Park on Tuesday before returning to Florida.
