Men's soccer team hosts defending national champions Saturday night
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will host Monroe University in a battle of nationally-ranked teams in the nation Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and admission to games at Orlando Health Stadium is free. The game will be shown live locally on WEFS-TV and online at EFSC Titans YouTube page.
The Titans come into the game No. 8 in the nation and are 9-2-2 this season while Monroe University is No. 16 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and are 6-3-1 this season.
Monroe University is the defending national champions and have won two straight national titles and three in the past five seasons. They have eight players back from last season's national championship team including the starting goalkeeper Alvaro Ramos.
Braxton Richards has scored six goals this season including two of the past three games this season. The Mustangs are coming off a tie against No. 12 Daytona State College as both Harumi Yunaiyama and Joao Victor Figueiredo each scored in the 2-2 game.
Eastern Florida State College is coming off a victory against Daytona State as four different players scored in the road win. The Titans are led by Luc Achermann-Stanfield who is leading the nation in assists this season with 17 while teammate Mukisa Emmanuel scored his ninth goal of the season on Tuesday against the Falcons.
