Women's basketball team will honor sophomores during Saturday's game
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will honor seven sophomores during Saturday's final home game.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I poll, will host Hillsborough Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday at Titan Field House.
Eastern Florida State College has won 23 straight games and have a 30-game win streak at Titan Field House. The seven players being honored on Saturday are a big reason for that.
Amelia Hassett, Rosa Redondo Sorribes, Kristiana Kulackovska and Martina Galvez Narro have been with the program for most if not all of the win streaks while Esra Sen, Andrea Chiquemba and Jaidyn Koerdt have helped the Titans to a 24-3 record including a 19-0 conference record this season.
Hassett, a forward from Asbury, New South Wales, Australia, has set the program record with 21 double-doubles this season as she is averaging 19.9 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. Hassett has started all 27 games this season and has scored 846 points with 605 rebounds and 129 blocked shots in her two seasons.
Sorribes, a guard from Madrid, Spain, has played in 54 games over her career with the Titans and has started 12 times this season. Sorribes has been with the Titans for the past three conference titles and has scored over 100 points in her career and is closing in on 100 assists.
Kulackovska, a guard from Saldus, Latvia, has played in 64 games for the Titans and has won the conference title each season she has been with the Titans. Kulackovska is averaging 8.8 points in 27 games this season, starting 17 times and has scored 338 points and 246 rebounds in her career.
Narro, a guard from Madrid, Spain, has played in 23 games this season and is averaging five points per game. Narro is shooting 47.7 percent from the 3-point arc and has scored over 110 points this season.
Sen, a guard from Istanbul, Turkey, has played in 25 games this season, starting 15 and is averaging 4.3 points per game. Sen has scored over 100 points this season and has 21 steals to go with 29 assists.
Chiquemba, a forward from Vola Nova de Gaia, Portugal, has played 27 games with six start and is averaging 5.2 points and three rebounds per game. Chiquemba has scored 140 points this season for the Titans with 82 rebounds.
Koerdt, a guard from Providence, Arkansas, has started 22 of the 27 games she has played in this season and is averaging 10 points per game. Koerdt has scored 272 points this season and has 77 rebounds.
The Titans have clinched the Citrus Conference regular season title and have won the conference title for the third straight season.
Eastern Florida State College will play Hillsborough Community College Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The sophomore class will be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game and then the team will cut down the nets following the men's game which should end by 6:30 p.m.
