Women's basketball team hosts Miami Dade Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will host Miami Dade College in a Citrus Conference game Saturday afternoon.
The Titans, who are No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I national poll, have won 22 straight games and are 18-0 in the conference. They will face the Sharks for the third time this season, winning the first two games 84-67 and 85-46.
Miami Dade College comes into the contest winning two in a row and is led by one of the best scorers in the state. Shameir Quimby comes into the game averaging 21.2 points per game and is coming off one of her best games of the season, scoring 38 against Palm Beach State College. Quimby has scored at least 20 points in 15 games.
Sophomore Amelia Hassett is averaging 20 points per game and is averaging 13 rebounds per game which leads Region 8. Hassett is also leading Region 8 in 3-point percentage, making 41.1 percent of her 3-pointers this season.
Saturday's game will begin at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House and admission is free. The game will also be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
