Seven players, coach Baker honored by Central Conference
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team had a program-best seven players named to the All-Central Conference team.
The Titans head coach MJ Baker was named the Coach of the Year for the first time as a Titan and forward Rapuluchi Ngorka was named the Player of the Year for the Central Conference.
Ngorka made the first team along with teammates Shadaria Smith and Kaitlyn Sanders. Tatiana Beaumont, L'or Eyeba Mputu, Leilani Guion and Ana Carolina De Jesus all made the second team for the Titans who finished the conference season a perfect 12-0.
Ngorka, who became the first Titan to win Central Conference Player of the Year, averaged 13.9 points and 13.3 rebounds per season. The 13.3 rebounds per game leads Region VIII and the Madrid, Spain native is hitting 56.6 percent of her field goals this season which is second to teammate Mputu in the state.
Smith, a freshman guard from Orlando, averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season. Smith made 59 3-pointers this season and scored 354 points for the Titans.
Sanders, a freshman guard from Miami, averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season. In two seasons, Sanders has scored 390 points with 107 assists and 107 rebounds and 63 steals. The guard has hit seven 3-pointers in a game three times this season.
Mputu, a freshman from the Congo, Africa, is averaging 9.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. The forward is leading the state in field goal percentage, hitting 58.5 percent of her shots this season.
Beaumont, a freshman from Emu Heights, Australia, is averaging 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 28 games this season. In two seasons with the Titans, Beaumont has scored 320 points and grabbed 142 rebounds.
De Jesus, a freshman from Setubal, Portugal, has averaged 5.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 26 games this season with the Titans. In her one season at Eastern Florida State College, De Jesus has scored 138 points and grabbed 135 rebounds with 17 blocked shots.
Guion, a freshman from Orlando, is averaging 6.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 16 games this season.
Eastern Florida State College will head to the FCSAA State Tournament next week in Niceville as the No. 2 seed. They will play No. 7 seed Daytona State College Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m.
