The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team had a historic evening at Titan Field House Tuesday night.
The Titans defeated St. Petersburg College 78-62 to finish 12-0 in the Central Conference which marks the first time in program history the Titans were unbeaten in conference play.
And they did it behind Rapuluchi Ngorka's big night. The freshman grabbed 22 rebounds which is two shy of the program record for rebounds in a game. The 22 rebounds gave Ngorka 358 rebounds this season, which is a program record.
The Titans improved to 25-3 overall which is also a program record for wins in the regular season.
On Tuesday the 16th-ranked women's basketball team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and was ahead by 10 points by the end of the first quarter.
Hanna Mebius-Svensson had a big second quarter, scoring 10 of her 14 points. At halftime, Eastern Florida State College led 47-25 as Ngorka had already grabbed 14 rebounds.
The Titans honored the five sophomores at halftime of the game as Tatiana Beaumont, Kaitlyn Sanders, Sophia Ojhammar, Jillian Schenk and Ana Carolina DeJesus played in their final game at Titan Field House.
All five players scored at least five points in the game.
Ngorka recorded her 16th double-double of the season, scoring 15 points to go with her 22 rebounds while Svensson had a career-high 14 points. Sanders had eight points and four assists, DeJesus and Beaumont each had seven, Schenk had six points and Ojhammar finished with five points.
Eastern Florida State College will play in the FCSAA/Region VIII Championship Tournament in Niceville, Florida beginning March 3. The Titans will find out who they will play in the first round of the tournament on Thursday.
