Women's basketball team remains unbeaten in the conference
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team won their eighth straight game Wednesday night, defeating Daytona State College in a Central Conference game at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
The 18th-ranked Titans won their 10th straight game at Titan Field House and are 20-3 overall. Daytona State College saw their two-game win streak come to an end.
The Titans held Daytona State College to two points in the third quarter as the Titan pulled away to pick up the conference win.
Shadaria Smith once again had a big third quarter, scoring nine of her 24 points in the contest. It is the second straight game that Smith has had at least 24 points. Teammate Rapuluchi Ngorka had her 13th double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. It is the sixth time this season that the freshman from Madrid, Spain has grabbed 20-plus rebounds, including the past two games.
L'or Eyeba Mputu finished with 12 points, while Ana Carolina De Jesus finished with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds and Kaitlyn Sanders had 10 points. The Falcons were led by the duo of Kimeira Burks and Tanyia Gordon who each scored 16 points in the loss.
Eastern Florida State College is now 7-0 in the conference which is the best conference start for the program since the 2015-16 season. The Titans will travel to St. Petersburg College on Saturday for a Central Conference game.
