Women's basketball team hits road for Suncoast Conference opener
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will make its Suncoast Conference debut Wednesday night on the road.
The 15-3 Titans will head to Naples to face No. 15 Florida Southwestern in the conference opener for both in the newly-formed Suncoast Conference.
Florida Southwestern comes into the contest 17-4 on the season and led by the trio of LaToya Ashman, Erna Normil and Tina Stephens who all come in averaging 12 points or more per game. The Buccaneers are 9-1 at home this season and have won three in a row heading into Wednesday's matchup.
The Titans have won five straight and are led by Alexandrine Obouh Fegue who is averaging a double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds per game. Point guard Brianna Lewis is leading Region 8 with 6.9 assists per game and is also averaging 12.8 points for the Titans.
The two teams split last season with both teams winning on the road. The Titans' 15 wins already surpasses last season's total as they head into conference play.
Hillsborough Community College who will be at Titan Field House Saturday afternoon and St. Petersburg College are also in the Suncoast Conference.
