Women's basketball team tops St. Louis Community College
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team picked up its 13th win of the season Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.
Down five at halftime, the Titans went on a 9-2 run to start the third quarter as Eastern Florida State College defeated St. Louis Community College 75-68.
St. Louis Community College led for most of the first quarter as Adranae Wash scored six straight points midway through the quarter to help the Archers to a 23-20 lead. They would extend it to five at halftime.
Alexandrine Obouh Fegue dominated the third quarter, scoring 11 of her team-high 18 in the third quarter to give the Titans a two-point lead heading to the fourth quarter.
Mariah Batz hit her fourth 3-pointer to get things started in the fourth quarter and things remained close until sophomore Victoria Morales hit back-to-back 3-pointers with four minutes to go in the contest pushed the Titans to an eight-point lead.
"They are No. 3 in the nation in Division II and they lost their first game of the season so I knew they would be hungry and we would get their best shot," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach MJ Baker said on WEFS-TV after the game. "Mariah hit a couple of big 3-pointers and Victoria Morales hit two big ones and was great on defense against Crishana Wilson, who has been strong for them."
Batz finished with 15 points while Brianna Lewis had 13 points and Morales finished with 12 in the win. Obouh Fegue grabbed 14 rebounds to go with her 18 points for her 11th double double of the season.
The 13-3 Titans will host IMG Academy Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and then Santa Fe College on Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission to Titans basketball games is free.
