Women's cross country team ready for Region 8 meet in Tallahassee

The Eastern Florida State College women's cross country team will compete in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Cross Country Championships on Friday.

The Titans will compete with Chipola College and Seminole State College in the Division I race as well as 10 Division II teams at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

"The girls had to miss two meets due to the storms but are ready to race in Tallahassee on Friday," Eastern Florida State College women's cross country coach Doug Butler said. "I expect big things from them Friday at Apalachee Regional Park."

The Titans are the defending Division I champions and finished third overall last year.

Marlie Gonzalez and Amelia Shephard are both back after finishing in the top six last year in the Division I race.

"Amelia and Rori (Pandolfini) are setting PRs in the time trials and Bella (Narvaez), Trinity (Trett) and Marlie are running better than they have all year," Butler said.

The Titans have finished in the top 10 in each of the two events this fall but have not run in an event since Sept. 13.
