Volleyball team hosts Santa Fe Saturday on Sophomore Day

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will honor the sophomore class on Saturday after the Titans' match with Santa Fe College.

The Titans will play Santa Fe at 2 p.m. in a Suncoast Conference match as the Titans continue to push toward a spot in the postseason.

Eastern Florida State College will honor four players after the match at Titan Field House as Delphinia Beams, Rylie Patrick, Fabiola Rivera and Jaremis Maldonado will all be honored as the four players are wrapping up their sophomore seasons.

Beams has recorded 58 kills in 16 matches this season as the Melbourne native has played in 34 matches over her two seasons with the Titans.

Patrick is coming off one of her best games as a Titan, recording 11 kills in the win over Polk State College. The sophomore from Vero Beach has played in 27 matches and has over 130 career kills.

Rivera has been solid this season for the Titans as the sophomore from Bayamon, Puerto Rico has 170 kills to go with over 180 digs in two seasons.

Maldonado has been battling injuries this season but still has over 100 digs in her career. The Isabela, Puerto Rico native has been a strong player off the bench for the Titans.

"I am very happy with how the sophomore class has grown and it is sad to see their time with the program ending," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. "The way they have been playing the past three or four weeks has been amazing, carrying the team in ways that help the team win and keep the program at the level that we want. I am looking forward to what the future holds for each of them. They are good kids with a lot of integrity, work ethic and care about what they do and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to coach them and proud that they are a part of this program."

Eastern Florida State College heads into Saturday's match 14-5 overall and 5-4 in the Suncoast Conference. Saturday's match begins at 2 p.m. and admission is free for matches at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
