Women's volleyball team back home Thursday night
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will host second-ranked Florida Southwestern State College in a Suncoast Conference match Thursday.
The match will begin at 6 p.m. at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Admission is free and social distancing is required at all events on campus.
The Titans are coming off a road win against the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota on Tuesday to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Sophomore Janleen De Jesus is fourth in the state in assists per set, averaging 8.57 while teammate and freshman Yuleidy Torres is fourth in the state in digs per set, averaging 4.14. Giselle Giraud is third in the state in kills per set, averaging 3.91.
Florida Southwestern has won six straight matches and is in first place in the conference standings at 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Bucs are led by Maria Petkova who leads the state in total kills with 136, averaging 3.32 per set. Teammate Arianna Rossi leads the state in digs with 170, averaging 3.95 per set.
Thursday night will mark the third time this season the Titans will be facing a team ranked in the top 20 in the NJCAA Division I poll.
