Women's volleyball team falls in four sets
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team dropped a four-set Suncoast Conference match on the road Tuesday night.
The Titans lost to No. 20 Daytona State College 25-18, 23-25, 16-25, 20-25.
Eastern Florida State College led throughout the first set as Giselle Giraud had five big kills to keep the Titans out front throughout the set. A Rylie Patrick kill put the Titans up four, 17-13 and they rolled to a 25-18 win.
The Titans would jump out to a 7-3 lead in the second set on a Desiree Cruz kill but Daytona State College won seven of the next 10 points to tie things up 10-10. It remained tight and every time the Falcons would take the lead the Titans bounced back to keep things tight.
Tied 23-23, a Titans shot went wide and the Falcons went on to post the 25-23 win and tie the match.
The third set was all Falcons as Daytona State College rolled to a 25-16 win to take a 2-1 lead.
The fourth set saw Daytona State College jump out to an 8-4 lead, but a Delphinia Beams kill started a run for the Titans who would take a 10-8 lead. It would remain close until Daytona State made a four-point run to take a 19-15 lead. Patrick and Giraud had kills to help the Titans cut the deficit to one, 20-19 but that would be as close as they would get as the Falcons posted a 25-20 win to win the match.
Eastern Florida State College (1-1, 0-1) will travel to No. 17 Hillsborough Community College next Tuesday for a Suncoast Conference match.
