The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a four-set victory over South Florida State College Thursday night at Titan Field House.
The Titans recognized the seven sophomores before the match and went on to post the win, 25-18, 17-25, 25-11, 25-21.
Freshman Charlette Ayala led the way in the first set with several big kills as the Titans took an 18-12 lead. But South Florida State College came back, cutting the lead back to three before a Maredis Colon kill ended the run.
South Florida State scored the first six points of the second set and the Titans could not get back into the match.
Tied 1-1, Desiree Cruz had one of her best sets as a Titan, recording three kills early as the Titans took a 7-2 lead. Up 10-6, Arianna Rios went on a run serving 10 straight points including an ace to give the Titans a commanding 20-7 lead. The Titans went on to win the third set 25-11.
The fourth set was close early on, but the Titans went on 9-3 run to lead 13-7. Sophomore Cassandra Gregory recorded the kill to end the set and the match 25-21.
The Titans, who finish the season 7-9, will play in the FCSAA State Tournament beginning next Thursday. Eastern Florida State College is the No. 8 seed and will play No. 1 Miami Dade in the first round.
