Women's volleyball team falls to Palm Beach State College
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to Palm Beach State College in a tight Southern Conference match Tuesday night at Titan Field House.
The Titans lost 25-23, 26-24, 27-29, 25-16 to fall to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Eastern Florida State College got behind early in the first set but sophomore Maredis Colon had a kill and then served three straight points to give the Titans a lead. It would stay close for a bit, but the Titans went on a 5-1 run to hold an 18-14 lead. They would lead 21-17 on a Giselle Giraud kill but Palm Beach State College would go on a run, scoring eight of the final 10 points to win the first set.
The second set saw Colon take over the match, posting six big blocks in the set as once again the Titans held a 20-17 lead and then again at 24-22. But Palm Beach once again came up with the big points, posting a 26-24 win.
The third set saw the two teams tied 24-24, 26-26 and again 27-27 before a big kill by Colon made it 28-27 and the Titans held on to force a fourth set, 29-27.
But Palm Beach State College took a commanding 16-10 lead and the Titans could not come back, falling 25-16.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to No. 1-ranked Miami Dade College Thursday for a 6 p.m. Southern Conference match.
