Softball team hits road for conference doubleheader Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be back on the road Saturday, heading to Florida Southwestern for a conference doubleheader.
The Titans, who are 19-19 in the Citrus Conference, will face No. 3 Florida Southwestern beginning at 2 p.m. Florida Southwestern comes into the matchup 34-4 in the conference and has won nine straight, one of the losses coming to the Titans. The Bucs come into the matchup leading Region 8 in team ERA and is second in the state in strikeouts. The team has a 1.56 ERA with 323 strikeouts. Esmee Ames has a 1.37 ERA in 28 appearances with 113 strikeouts while Lea Chevrier has a 1.75 ERA with 117 strikeouts.
Offensively, the Bucs are led by Virginia Mambelli who is hitting .416 with 10 doubles and four home runs, while teammates Maddy Golka (.404) and Emily Allegood (.403) are also hitting over .400 this season.
Eastern Florida State College comes into the game hitting. 361 which is third in Region 8, led by Livie Davis who is hitting .398 as nine Titans are hitting at least .305 this season. On the mound, Hannah Strickland is 15-4 this season with a 2.25 ERA with 101 strikeouts.
