
Softball team hits road for big conference doubleheader Thursday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will travel to Ocala for a Citrus Conference battle of top 15 teams in the country.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 14 in the latest poll, will face the College of Central Florida who are No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll. The doubleheader in Ocala will begin at 1 p.m.
The College of Central Florida is 4-0 in the conference and is 13-5 overall this season while the Titans come into the contest 2-4 in the conference and 17-5 overall.
The College of Central Florida is hitting .417 as a team which leads Region 8. The Titans are fourth in Region 8, hitting .388 as a team. Both teams are ranked in the top four in the state in team ERA as the Patriots have a 1.93 ERA and the Titans have a 2.17 ERA this season.
The duo of Megan Loftis and Leah Clark are 1-2 in batting averaging this season as Loftis is hitting .583 and Clark is hitting .566 this season.
Jenna Borkey is hitting .516 this season for the Titans which is fourth in the state and has 25 stolen bases, which is tied for first in Region 8. Teammate Livie Davis is hitting .460 this season with four doubles and three triples.
Hannah Strickland is fourth in Region 8 in ERA with an ERA of 1.25, the freshman from Texas has a 5-0 record with two saves.
The Titans will be back home on Saturday for a conference doubleheader against Seminole State College beginning at 1 p.m.
