The Eastern Florida State College softball team continued its strong play in the month of March, improving to 5-0 with a sweep of Lincoln Land Community College Monday at Titan Softball Complex.
The Titans edged Lincoln Land in the first game 2-1 behind some good defense and clutch hitting. The Titans got on the board first when Abigail Kendrick led off with a single and moved to second on Alice Gannaway's first of three sacrifice bunts. Kendrick would score on a Brooke Diaz single.
After Lincoln Land tied the game in the top of the fifth inning, the Titans would answer in the bottom of the fifth as Savana Garrison led off with a single and scored on a Hannah Crumblish single.
Olivia Everett picked up the win, allowing one run over seven innings for her fifth win of the season.
The Titans broke open Game 2 in the second inning, sending 13 hitters to the plate and scoring nine times as Eastern Florida State College went on to win 9-1 in five innings.
Gannaway drove in four runs, all in the second inning and had two of the five hits in the game.
Jordan Lawlis allowed four hits over five innings to pick up her fifth win.
The Titans will be back at Titan Softball Complex at 5 p.m. today against Parkland College, who has made the NJCAA National Championship Tournament eight times in the past 15 seasons. Eastern Florida State College beat them twice on Sunday in Titusville. Admission is free to softball games.
