Men's tennis team playing in ERAU Open beginning Friday
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team will open the fall season this weekend at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautic University Open at Crotty Tennis Complex in Daytona Beach.
The men's tennis team is coming off a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament last season and has six players returning this season.
Bernardo Vieira, who teamed with Tomas Reche to win a national title at No. 3 doubles last season, is back and will partner with Mikar Fisher beginning Friday at 5:30 p.m. Vieira will also play in the singles Blue Flight division beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Fisher was the runner up at No. 3 singles in the national tournament last season and will compete in the Gold Flight Singles with his first match Friday morning.
Ramiro Rincon, who lost in the semifinals at the national tournament last season, will also open his fall season at 9 a.m. in the Gold Flight Singles bracket. Rincon will team with XX Gonzalez in the doubles Gold Flight.
Jae Woo Choi, who lost in the quarterfinals of the national tournament, will open the ERAU Open at 9 a.m. Friday in the Blue Flight. Choi will also team with Luc Camps Pascal in Gold Flight doubles.
Pascal will also compete in the Gold Flight in singles, beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Lucas Gonzalez and Bernardo Gandara will compete in the singles White Flight playing at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
The ERAU Open will feature two singles rounds on Friday with one round on Saturday and the final round on Sunday. The doubles bracket will feature one round on Friday with two rounds on Saturday and a final round on Sunday.
Eastern Florida State College will compete against host Embry-Riddle, Flagler College and individual players throughout the ERAU Open this weekend.
