Men's basketball team hosts Santa Fe in conference game Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will host Santa Fe College in a conference game Saturday at Titan Field House.
The 24th-ranked Titans come into the game 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the Citrus Conference and have won six straight games heading into the matchup.
Santa Fe College is 5-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference as they fell to Daytona State College in the conference opener. It will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams as the Titans won both meetings last season.
The Saints are led by Karmello Branch who is averaging 24.7 points per game this season and had 24 points against Daytona State College. Branch leads the FCSAA in scoring this season and has scored 23 points or more in 11 games this season and has scored at least 15 points in every game this season.
Teammate Connor Morris had 14 points against Daytona State College and is averaging 10.9 points per game.
Eastern Florida State College has four players averaging 11 points per game this season led by Emondrek Erkins-Ford. The sophomore forward comes into Saturday's game averaging 16.6 points per game and is coming off a 23-point performance against St. Petersburg College. He is averaging 25 points per game in the two conference games this season.
Teammate Fredy-Salam Sylla is averaging 12.9 points a game this season while Corey Caulker is scoring 11.9 points and Felipe Patino is averaging 11.1 points per game.
Saturday's game will be after the women's basketball game and start around 4 p.m. at Titan Field House. There will be giveaways, halftime games and food deals as part of the Community Credit Union Alumni Day and admission is free to the game on the Melbourne campus.
