Doug Butler started the women's cross country program in 2021-22 at Eastern Florida State College and found success right out of the starting gates.

The women's program won the NJCAA Region 8 championship in their inaugural season, topping Seminole State College for the title by just one point in a tight race between the two teams to advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship. At the national tournament, the team placed 19th overall.

Butler coaches both the men's and women's cross country teams and also continues as the head coach of the Satellite High School cross country teams.

Butler has won 24 state championships and been the runner-up 15 times in his high school coaching career at both Holy Trinity and Satellite High.
