Softball team hosts St. Petersburg Saturday and will honor sophomores
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will honor its sophomore class after a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
The Titans will host St. Petersburg College in a conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex.
Eight sophomores will be honored after the games as Brooke Theisen, Marisa Shoudt, Samantha Clark, Destiny Lake, Faith Campos, Sam Formosa, Jacey Boykin and Jenna Borkey will be playing in their final Saturday game at home.
Eastern Florida State College comes into the contest 15-15 in the conference and is in the hunt for a spot in the postseason. St. Petersburg College has been struggling this season and come in 7-23 in the conference.
The Titans are third in Region 8 in team batting average, hitting .365 this season and are eighth in team ERA with a 3.36 ERA. The duo of Livie Davis and Jenna Borkey lead the offense as Davis is hitting .413 and Borkey is hitting .412. Borkey is third in stolen bases in Region 8 with 40 stolen bases this season.
On the mound, Hannah Strickland has started 19 games this season and has a 2.46 ERA while Alanna O'Brien has a 3.14 ERA and leads Region 8 with six saves.
St. Petersburg College is led by Kelly Tikel who is hitting .379 this season while teammate Ayla Horne is hitting .352.
