Men's tennis team opens the national tournament Monday morning

Men's tennis team opens the national tournament Monday morning

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team will open the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament with a bye in seven of the nine matches.

The Titans will open the national tournament with two matches on Monday at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center on the campus of Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.

Jaewoo Choi will open the tournament at 8 a.m. on Monday in a No. 2 singles match, facing Coastal Alabama Community College's Cody Bonds in the first round.

Then at 1 p.m. the No. 1 doubles team of Lucas Gonzalez and George Myers Millington will open the tournament against Wallace State's Muntingh Hamman and Ryan Wang.

Gonzalez is the No. 4 seed at No. 1 singles and will have a bye in the first round. The Argentina native will play in the second round at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ramiro Rincon is the three seed at No. 3 singles and will also receive a bye in the first round. The Argentina native will play in the second round at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Bernardo Vieira is the fifth seed at No. 4 singles and has a bye into the second round. The Portugal native will also play at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Rincon and Vieira team up at No. 2 doubles and enter the tournament as the fifth seed and will have a bye in the first round. The duo will play Tuesday afternoon beginning at noon.

Lluc Pasqual Camps is the four seed at No. 5 singles and will have a bye into the second round. Camps will open the tournament at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Corentin Venot is a four seed at No. 6 singles and also gets a bye into the second round and will play at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Choi and Enric Porcar will partner at No. 3 doubles and open the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will have a bye in the first round. The duo will play at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Titans are making their fourth straight appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.
