Men's soccer team hosts Southern Union State Saturday afternoon

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will host Southern Union State College Saturday afternoon at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans are back in the postseason and are hosting the first round of the Southeast District Tournament Saturday.

"When we have played well, it has been here. I feel like the field suits us," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Adam Butler said. "Since I have been here we have played the majority of our best games at home and I like to play at home, I know the boys do."

Southern Union State College has had a successful first season as the program is 9-5-1 in its inaugural season. The Bison have won three of the past four games coming into the matchup with the Titans and are led by sophomore Patrick Guffey who has 15 goals in 14 games this season.

The Bison have posted a tie against LSU Eunice who is the only team that has beaten the Titans this season.

"They are a team that has had some great results, obviously got a result from the only team that has beat us, so we know they are capable of causing some damage," Butler said.

Eastern Florida State College have won nine in a row and advanced to the postseason with a win over Daytona State College. The Titans are 13-0-2 in their past 15 games at Orlando Health Stadium. Sophomore Daniele Verdirosi and Daiki Okada have each scored nine goals this season and Mukisa Emmanuel has six goals and seven assists this season.

"We are pretty beat up, so it has been good to take a little bit of a rest," Butler said. "We are trying to get everyone back healthy because this is the important part of the year."

Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. at Orlando Health Stadium and admission is free. The game will be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
