Men's soccer team ready for big weekend of games
After a strong showing in the season opener, the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team boarded a plane for a big weekend of games in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Titans, who opened the season with a 7-1 win over No. 19 Morton College, will play host CCBC Essex at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Knights Kickoff Classic. Then on Sunday the No. 5-ranked men's soccer team will play No. 4 Monroe College at 2 p.m. in Maryland.
"There is no doubt about it, that is going to be a different level. When you play a team like Monroe, you know that is an entirely different level and is going to be a challenge with the travel and playing them in the last day of a tough three-game stretch," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. We are going to have to be mentally tough as well as physically prepared to play one of the best teams in the country."
Sophomore Aedon Kyra and freshman Levonte Johnson each had two goals in the opener as five players scored in the contest.
"It's going to be tough and we are going to have to play our best to come back with results," Kyra said.
Last season the Titans defeated CCBC Essex as well as Harford in the kickoff classic.
The Titans will return home and travel to Florida Tech for a scrimmage on Tuesday night before hosting Laramie County Community College at 6 p.m. on Friday. Laramie County is receiving votes in the preseason poll.
