Moaoui, Myers named NJCAA Second Team All-Americans

Moaoui, Myers named NJCAA Second Team All-Americans

Eastern Florida State College men's soccer players Rhys Myers and Nour Moaoui were named NJCAA Second Team All-Americans on Wednesday afternoon.

The duo helped the Titans to the national championship tournament semifinals and a program-tying 15 wins this season.

Myers, a sophomore from Nottingham, UK, started all 19 games this season, helping the defense post a program-best nine shutouts. He also had a goal and three assists. Myers was named to the Region 8 First Team earlier this season.

"Rhys has had a fantastic career, is truly deserving of this honor in his last semester before graduation," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "He has been a great leader on and off the pitch, anchoring our defense that was one of the best in the country this year as well as being a role model in the classroom. All of the players, staff and EFSC soccer community will sorely miss him as he graduates and moves onto an NCAA Division I University where he will be a major addition."

Moaoui, a freshman from Palm Bay, started 14 games for the Titans and had a 0.61 goals against average while posting a program-best eight shutouts, stopping 62 shots in his first season with the Titans. In the postseason, Moaoui allowed just five goals in seven games.

"Since breaking into the starting line-up, Nour has been nothing short of exceptional," Twelvetrees said. "His Goalkeeping instincts, reactions and command of his penalty box were a big part of our team's success.  His performances show what a big future he has as a true freshman from Brevard County."

It is the sixth straight season the men's program has had at least one player be named to the NJCAA All-American teams.
