Men's basketball team beats Polk State for fifth straight win
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team took sole possession of first place in the Central Conference with a big win on the road Saturday.
The Titans used a big second half to defeat Polk State College 59-52 and improve to 4-0 in the conference.
Eastern Florida State College came out of the locker room at halftime trailing Polk State 31-27, but quickly erased that lead, outscoring the Eagles 9-3 in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 36-34 lead.
The teams would trade the lead throughout the second half until Justin Reid grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back in with two minutes remaining to give the Titans a 56-52 lead.
Brody Boyer would hit a free throw and Ja'Darius Harris hit both of his to ice the game for the Titans. Harris finished with a team-high 18 points while Reid finished with 11.
Polk State College, who saw their four-game win streak snapped, was led by Jordan Preasters 13 while teammate Jeremiah Gilyard had 12.
Eastern Florida State College is now 6-2 overall and have won five straight games. The men will host Hillsborough Community College Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Titan Field House.
