Jackson, Titans Garner More Men's Basketball Honors

The honors keep coming for Eastern Florida's four-time FCSAA Southern Conference championship men's basketball team.

Class of 2016 point guard C.J. Jackson was named Southern Conference Player of the Year, the fourth straight Titan to be so honored, joining 2013 graduate Addison Spruill, 2014 graduate Torrance Rowe and 2015 graduate Kyle Meyer.

Spruill, Rowe and Meyer all moved on to NCAA Division I programs.

Jackson, of Charlotte, North Carolina and Montverde Academy, is a freshman but eligible to move on to an NCAA four-year institution. He was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week three times this season and NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week once.

Jackson is joined on the FCSAA All-State team by sophomore and former high school teammate forward B.J. Gladden, also of Charlotte and the University of Akron.

Three players – Jackson, Gladden and freshman Kareem Brewton of Snellville, Georgia and Shiloh High – were All-Conference first team selections.

Freshman Austin Awad of Melbourne, Florida and Melbourne High, and sophomore Djordje Beronja of Novi Gard, Bosnia, were second team selections.

Titans head coach Jeremy Shulman was named conference Coach of the Year for the fourth straight time.
"I am thrilled for our players who received statewide and conference recognition," Shulman said. "They earned it with their 15-0 conference record and a regular-season record that stands at 27-3.

"We're very proud of C.J., B.J., Kareem, Austin and Djordje. At the same time they would be the first to give credit to their teammates who have worked hard all through the pre-season and the season to make them the best they could be."

Jackson leads the Titans in scoring at 16.4 points per game followed by Brewton at 14.5; and Gladden and Beronja at 11.6 and 10.2 points per game respectively.

Awad is averaging eight points and 5.4 rebounds per game coming off the bench, shooting 41.3 percent from the three-point line.

Gladden leads in rebounding at 9.3 per game. Jackson leads in assists at 4.5 and steals at 2.4.
As a team the Titans are ranked fourth nationally in total rebounds per game at 47.3. They are seventh in three-point percentage at 41.4.

They are first nationally in opponents' field goal percentage at 37.

The Titans will make their fourth straight appearance in the Region 8/FCSAA Tournament next week opening at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Tallahassee Community College at the College of Central Florida in Ocala.
