No. 7 women's volleyball team hosts Polk State in conference opener Wednesday
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will open the Citrus Conference Wednesday night at home against Polk State College.
The Titans, who are unbeaten and remain No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will host Polk State at 6 p.m. Wednesday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
"I can not believe that we are already starting the conference season," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. "We are just trying to prepare the team, it has been a good two weeks for us with a lot of highs but the girls are still really hungry and excited to get into conference play."
Sophomore Sofia Kamke is second in service aces per set in Region 8 and leads the team with 64 kills while teammate Flavia Romanelli has 45.
Polk State College comes into the matchup 1-0 in the conference after defeating Daytona State College on Saturday and are 2-3 on the season.
"We are ready, Polk is really serving well and coming off a good win but I believe is we follow the game plan we will play well but we can not be relaxed, we are preparing for a match against one of the best teams in the state and are just trying to get a win," said Eleutiza whose Titans won all three meetings against Polk State College last year, a first for the program. "This conference is crazy, you just have to survive enough to make the state tournament but I think we are ready."
Admission to Wednesday's match is free at Titan Field House and you can watch the match live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
