Women's golf team tees off Monday in final regular season event

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team will tee off in the final regular season tournament of the spring Monday in Georgia.

The Titans will compete in the Dalton State Roadrunner Women's Invitational at the Nob North Golf Course.

"We didn't get to go last year because of a conflict with dates but it is a good tournament, Dalton State is always one of the better NAIA team in the country and a lot of really good teams are always there," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It's just a good tournament, a good golf course that gets us out of our comfort zone with a lot of elevation changes in the front nine and the back flattens out to more what we are used to. It is a good tournament and good competition for the team."

The Titans have finished in the top seven in each of the past two tournaments heading into the Georgia tournament and is looking for a strong finish as they get ready for postseason.

"Brittany (Odic) has been coming on, just looking for more consistency, she seems to have one good round and a mediocre round then struggles and that seems to be the pattern for the team," Howell said. "We are looking to have a little more balance across the board, minimize the mistakes and make those big numbers a little smaller."

Sophomore Gracie Doke tied for 11th overall in the Oldfield Intercollegiate event and recently signed to attend Missouri Southern State next season.

"She has had some wonderful rounds, a couple rounds that have been disappointing for her, but she shows signs and just needs to be a little more consistent," Howell said. "She works hard, nobody works harder and I am happy for her."

Eastern Florida State College is ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division I national rankings by Clippd. The Titans will tee off Monday morning in the Roadrunner Women's Invitational.
