Women's golf team opens Collegiate Players Cup

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team opened the Collegiate Players Cup against Florida Tech Friday afternoon at Rockledge Country Club.

And while Florida Tech won all three matches, the duo of Katelyn McCallum and Regan Taylor stayed with Florida Tech's Lauren Watson and Noelle Beijer. McCallum sunk a putt that kept them alive and on the next hole Taylor's putt just lipped out and gave the Panthers the win, 2 and 1.

Lauren Holder and Danica Swaggerty lost 4 and 3 while Gabriella Collura and Gianna Piscitelli lost 6 and 5 on the first day of the Collegiate Players Cup.

The men's team will open play at 8 a.m. with five alternate shot style matches and then in the afternoon the women and men will all play singles matches vying for the Cup.
