Women's golf team places second in Lady Titan Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team placed second in the Lady Titan Invitational at Suntree Country Club.
The Titans shot a program-best 317 in the final round to place second behind Seminole State College who finished with a 285 Monday and 579 for the tournament.
"They are already better than last year so they can see the hard work is working, now we can go out and look at our game and plan to get even better," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said.
Regan Taylor shot a 75 on Monday to lead the charge as Lauren Holder had a 79, Katelyn McCallum shot an 80 and Gabriella Collura finished with an 83.
"As I have said before, they are better than they know and if they get a little bit of that feeling, they can ride that. There's something to be said for momentum and saying, hey we can do that. It was good to see them go out and play and I got to see them under the heat of a tournament," Howell said. "They haven't competed a whole lot since last spring so that is part of it, the more comfortable you get competing the better you are going to be. There is nothing like tournament golf."
Seminole State's Worapitcha Anudit shot 10-under for the tournament, shooting 68 and 66 to win medalist honors. Teammate Tuan-Yu Chiang shot a final-round 67 to finish second overall with a 140.
The Titans will travel to Webber International Oct. 14-15 for the Webber International Fall Invitational.
