Eastern Florida Women's Golf Signs Second Player

Eastern Florida women’s golf coach Anne Gannon has signed the second player for the team that debuts in the fall.

Danica Swaggerty EFSC Women's Golf SigneeDanica Swaggerty of Knoxville, Tennessee and West High joins inaugural signee Lauren Holden of Orlando and Lake Nona High.

"I am so blessed to have this opportunity and be a part of the inaugural Lady Titans' golf team,” Swaggerty said. “I am looking forward to moving to Florida and continuing to grow with the guidance of Coach Gannon and Coach (Margaret) Lazarus, as well as my new teammates.”

Since she began playing golf in seventh grade, Swaggerty has been a student of LPGA pro Louise Ball, the owner and Director of the Tennessee Golf Academy and a junior member on the Tennessee Golf Foundation’s Sned's Tour and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, as well as a junior leader of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf and captain of her high school team.

Most recently, Swaggerty finished top 10 in the East Tennessee PrepXtra Masters Tournament, averaging 41 with a low 37 for nine holes; finished third at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association District 4-AAA tournament with an 81; tied for second in the TSSAA Region 2-AAA tournament (76), and 24th at the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament (84-81=165).

Several members of Swaggerty's family have played at the college level in football, rugby, crew, cross-country and basketball. Her uncle played NCAA Division I golf at Saint Francis University, her aunt played DII basketball at Daemen College, and her mom played DII basketball at Bloomsburg University. Swaggerty also enjoys studio dance and is a member of her high school's dance team.

The women’s golf team will be based at the Fred Gay Golf Academy Driving Range on SR 524 in Cocoa along with Eastern Florida’s seven-time national champion men’s golf team.
