Men's golf team places fourth in Wallace State event

Men's golf team places fourth in Wallace State event

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team shot one of the best rounds of the day to finish fourth at the Dan York Memorial Invitational Tournament at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama on Tuesday.

The Titans shot a 3-under 281 to move up two places and finished just two shots behind Calhoun Community College. Defending national champion Central Alabama Community College won the event, shooting 16-under 836 for the tournament.

Sophomore Thomas Matthews shot a 2-under 69 in the final round and finished second overall at 7-under for the tournament. Central Alabama's Jack Goldasich shot 9-under for the tournament to win medalist honors.

Sophomore Ryan McMillan finished tied for 22nd while Ben Ramos was tied for 26th and Sean McGinty placed 30th overall after shooting a 1-under 70 in the final round. Freshman Drew Lanier shot even par in the final round to finish tied for 34th in his first college tournament.

The men's golf team will travel to Georgia for the GMI Bulldog Classic Sept. 23-24.
