Men's golf team gets off to slow start at national tournament
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team got off to a slow start in the first round of the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
The Titans were one of the first teams to tee off and did not get things going until the back nine and sit tied for 12th place at 8-over after the first round at The Rawls Course.
Sophomore Fraser Davren shot 2-under on the back nine and finished with a 1-over 73 as did teammate Ryan Rozic who had an eagle on No. 11.
Freshman Beck Fox birdied five of the final 11 holes including the final two holes after a tough start and is at 2-over 74 after the first round. The 16th hole spoiled Kyle Decenzo's solid round as the sophomore heads to the second round at 4-over 76.
The Titans will look to build on the back nine performance as they tee off for the second round beginning at 12:40 p.m. eastern time.
