Men's golf team in first after Day 1 in Alabama

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf sits in first place by two strokes after the first day of the Coastal Alabama Spring Invitational.

The Titans shot a 293 and lead Mississippi Gulf Coast by two strokes heading into the final round.

Sophomore Fraser Davren and freshman Beck Fox each shot 71s while Kyle Decenzo shot a 75 and Greg Darnell had a 76. Chandler Dixon finished with a 79.

"We will need more balance tomorrow and a stronger finish to our rounds as the course will be challenging and there is only one round remaining," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Fox and Fraser are one stroke behind Mississippi Gulf Coast's Brice Wilkinson for the individual title. The three players were the only ones to shoot under par in the first round.
