Men's golf team places second at Titan Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished with the best round of the day to place second in the Titan Invitational at Suntree Country Club.

The host Titans shot 3-over as a team in the final round as both Fraser Davren and Beck Fox shot 70s in the final round. Both finished the tournament tied for sixth overall with a 216.

"I think it was a good defense, Keiser just outplayed us but overall it was a good result and we move on to our next event," Davren said. "Personally, it was good to score better than yesterday. It was good to get competitive again. Second in this event is pretty good. Obviously I want to finish better but my game is heading I the right direction so I am pleased."

Davren shot 1-over in the first two rounds and then finished strong, shooting a 2-under 70 which was tied for the best round of the day with teammate Fox. Fox got better each day, shooting a 74, 72 and then the 70 and felt ready to get the spring season started.

"Even though there were some bigger teams here, I knew I could play well and was excited for the challenge," Fox said. "Everyone played awesome, we ham and egg'd it and played really well."

Keiser University won the event, shooting 865 as a team. Petter Norberg won the individual title with a 212 after three rounds. Teammate Erik Jonasson was one stroke behind to finish second.

Eastern Florida State College's Blue Team finished second as Greg Darnell finished with a 218, Ryan Rozic shat a 225 and Kyle Decenzo finished with a 230. Florida Tech finished third in the tournament.

Eastern Florida State's White Team also finished well as Patxi Londaitz led the way with a 224. The Titans will hit the road Feb. 17-18 for the Coastal Alabama Spring Invitational in Fairhope, Ala.
