Men's golf team leads District 4 Preview after two rounds
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finally got to kick off the fall season and the excitement showed as the team is leading the District 4 Preview at Duran Golf Club after two rounds.
Sophomore Fraser Davren joked that it felt like he was back home and the sophomore from Scotland looked right at home on a wet course with winds blowing close to 20 miles per hour. Davren shot a 72 in the morning session and 69 in the afternoon to lead the tournament by two strokes after two rounds.
"Yeah, just like Scotland only about 50 degrees warmer," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "He had a tremendous day, 3-under par … that is good. Take a look across the board, that is a really solid day of golf."
Sophomore Mathieu Echelard shot a 71-74 for a 145 and is in third place while Kyle Decenzo and Ryan Rozic are tied for fifth after each finished with a 147. Beck Fox shot a 156 in his first two collegiate rounds.
Central Alabama Community College is in second place with Calhoun Community College in third and Wallace State Community College in fourth. Eastern Florida's Josh Postlewait shot a 70 in the afternoon round, his best score as a Titan for the second EFSC team.
The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at Duran Golf Club. Admission is free.
