Men's golf team opens fall season with District 4 Preview at Duran Golf Club

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team opens the fall season at Duran Golf Club, hosting the District 4 Preview on Monday and Tuesday.

The tournament will feature 10 teams including defending champion Central Alabama who edged the Titans in Alabama last year. Eastern Florida State College returns a veteran group that placed third in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Kansas last year. Mathieu Echelard, Fraser Davren and Ryan Rozic all played in that national tournament and are ready for the new season after missing the season opener due to Hurricane Irma.

"We return a lot of experience with seven sophomores and I expect us to compete in every event," said Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell whose team is No. 7 in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll. "When we show up to an event, we should be a team to be reckoned with. We can't control the outcome or what the other teams do but if we stick to our game plan and perform, we will be a good golf team."

Also teeing off at 7:30 a.m. Monday at Duran Golf Club are Calhoun Community College, Cape Fear Community College, Coastal Alabama, Gateway State, Marion Military Institute, Richard Bland College, Wake Tech and No. 10 Wallace State. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round will be Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Admission to the event is free.
