Bunny Shaw has assist for Jamaica against Australia at World Cup
Former Eastern Florida State College women's soccer player Bunny Shaw assisted on Jamaica's first goal in the Women's World Cup on Tuesday.
Jamaica lost 4-1 to Australia and was eliminated from World Cup play, but Shaw was part of history when she hit a through ball to Havana Solaun who found the back of the net in the 49th minute for Jamaica's first World Cup goal in team history.
The Spanish Town, Jamaica forward is one of the leaders on the Jamaican team, scoring three goals in the five matches at the women's championship in the fall and has 29 goals in 24 career games for the Raggae Girlz.
Shaw has signed a two-year contract with Football Club des Girondinis de Bordeaux, a French professional club based in the city of Bordeaux. The club currently plays in Ligue 1, the first division of French football.
Shaw was a first team All-American at Eastern Florida State College, leading the Titans to the national tournament both seasons, finishing with 24 goals and 11 assists in 21 games. From there she went to the University of Tennessee and led UT in goals scored in 2017 and 2018 and contributing to the team's appearance in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals for the first time since 2016.
