Bio

Jim Beitia has led the softball program to 30-win seasons in each of his first two years at Eastern Florida State College.

The Titans finished the 2018-19 season with 31 wins and second place in the Southern Conference, the most wins since the 2012-13 team. 

Beitia was hired as the softball coach in July of 2017 and brings 25-plus years of experience to the Titan Softball Complex, coaching both professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch League with the Carolina Diamonds as well as at the NCAA Division I level, helping build the University of Tennessee program from 1994 to 2001 where he accumulated a 233-163 record. In 1999 the Volunteers were co-champions of the SEC Eastern Division and made the NCAA regionals for the first time in school history.

Beitia was the director of operations at Arizona State when they won the national championship in 2008 and was the director of softball operations at Auburn last year when the Tigers finished as the runner-up. Overall, he has been a part of teams that have made the NCAA Division I World Series five times, three with Arizona State and twice with Auburn.

The Stockton, Calif. native is actively involved in BackSoftball which is an organization campaigning for the sport’s inclusion in the Olympic Games.

Beitia spent seven seasons at the University of Oklahoma, including two seasons as the head coach as well as a coach for the Spanish national team. Before beginning his coaching career, he earned numerous honors while playing shortstop on the ASA Men's Major Fastpitch circuit from 1976-85.

Beitia graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Ohio University after getting his associate’s degree in business administration from San Joaquin Delta College.
